Lab Alumni
Postdocs
Saikat Mukherjee was a postdoc in the lab from July 2020 to June 2023. He joined Iowa State University as an Assistant Professor in Mechanical Engineering in July 2023.
PhD Students
Reza Yousofvand defended his PhD in December 2025. His dissertation is titled "Numerical modeling of the glymphatic pathway and blood-brain barrier: Complementary solute transport and clearance mechanisms." He now works at Nvidia.
Daehyun Kim defended his PhD in December 2025. His dissertation is titled "Multi-scale analysis of the mechanics driving cerebrospinal fluid drainage via cervical lymphatic pathways." He is now a postdoc working with Dr. Jimmy Moore Jr. at Imperial College London.
Mahsa Mirzaee defended her PhD in May 2024. Her dissertation is titled "Reduced-order modeling of peristaltic pumping of cerebrospinal fluid in the glymphatic system of mice." She now works as a CFD Engineer at WSP.
MS Students
Edith Luveina Joseph defended her Master's thesis "Lumped Parameter Modeling of Changes in Liver Hemodynamics due to Cirrhosis" and graduated in December of 2023. She will begin working as a Thermal Systems Engineer at Trane Technologies.
Jake Stein defended his Master's thesis "Net Flow Through Soft Porous Media Generated by a Periodic Mean-Zero Pressure Gradient" and graduated in April of 2023.
BS Students
Kelechi Nwachukwu volunteered in the lab from April through December 2025. He worked on numerical simulation of heat transfer in novel geometries with applications in cryopreservation.
Jordan Nguyen worked with the lab throughout the Fall 2025 semester via ME 4090: Directed Research. She further refined our hydraulic network models of the glymphatic system to explore the effects of astrocyte endfoot heterogeneity.
Lillian Rutzen worked with the lab throughout the Fall 2025 semester via ME 4090: Directed Research. She developed workflows for image pre-processing and particle image velocimetry, before graduating in December 2025.
Dorothea Tse joined the lab in August 2023 and contributed to mouse experiments and experimental data analysis until May 2025, when she graduated with a B.S. in Psychology. Dorothea joined the Neuroscience graduate program at Penn State in Fall 2025.
Jihun Shin volunteered in the lab Spring 2025, then graduated with a B.S. in Neuroscience in May 2025.
Anika Volker joined the lab in Fall 2023 and volunteered -- contributing to mouse experiments and data analysis -- until she graduated in December 2024.
Turki Alturki volunteered in the lab from Fall 2023 through Summer 2024, contributing to mouse experiments and particle tracking velocimetry.
Lily Watkins joined the lab in Spring 2022 and continued working with us through her first year of grad school. She is now a PhD student in Victor Barocas's group.
Amit Manicka was a member of the lab for about a year before graduating with his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering in May 2024.
Majid Al Busaidi conducted research with us from Spring 2023 through Spring 2024, when he graduated with his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering. He is now a grad student in the UMN M.S.M.E. program.
Hayat Ahmed worked in the lab from Fall 2023 through Spring 2024. She will graduate with her B.S. in Spring 2026, with a major in Computer Science & Engineering and a minor in Information Technology.
Will Gustafson worked in the lab Spring 2022. He is currently in the integrated B.S./M.S. program in Mechanical Engineering, so he'll graduate with a Master's in Spring 2024. Will is also working part time at Medtronic.
Lindsay Stiegler graduated with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering in Spring 2022.
Nick Conlin graduated with a B.S. in Aerospace Engineering and Mechanics in Spring 2021. He joined the Mechanical Engineering Department at Princeton as a PhD student in Fall 2021.
Bharath Sivaram graduated with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering in Spring 2021 and is working on his Master's in the Minnesota Robotics Institute as of Fall 2021.
